Project Overview
We recently finished a custom patio installation for a homeowner in DeSoto, TX who wanted to create a relaxing outdoor area for family time and cookouts. The backyard had a basic concrete slab that wasn’t large enough for entertaining, and there was no shade or landscaping around it. The homeowner dreamed of an inviting space that felt like an extension of their living room. In DeSoto, where backyards are spacious and the weather allows for year-round outdoor use, this project was a perfect fit.
Customer Challenge
The existing patio was cracked and uneven. Every time it rained, water would pool near the back door. The homeowner also struggled with grass that wouldn’t grow in the shaded corners, making the yard look patchy and uncared for. They had tried laying pavers themselves in the past but weren’t satisfied with the results. What they really needed was a durable, well-designed patio that could withstand Texas weather and give their backyard a fresh start.
Our Solution
We started by tearing out the old slab and regrading the space to fix drainage issues. Then we installed a reinforced concrete foundation and topped it with a beautiful textured paver system. The layout included a curved seating wall and enough space for a grill and outdoor furniture. We also built a wooden pergola over part of the patio to provide partial shade and give the space a cozy, defined feel. All materials were chosen for heat resistance and slip prevention, which are important in the DeSoto climate.
