Project Overview
We completed a fresh mulching project for a client in Oak Leaf, TX who wanted to refresh their front and side flower beds ahead of the growing season. The beds had old, compacted mulch that was faded and no longer holding moisture effectively. The homeowner requested new mulch to boost appearance and help the plants perform better in the Texas sun.
Customer Problem or Challenge
The previous mulch was thin and uneven after several years of neglect. The beds were starting to dry out quickly, especially in areas with full sun exposure. Weeds had also begun to break through in several places. The homeowner wanted a clean, uniform layer that would help with moisture retention and create a more attractive presentation from the street.
Our Solution
We began by removing all old mulch and debris from the beds. After a light till of the topsoil, we installed a high-quality dyed brown mulch to match the home’s brick tones. We spread the mulch at a depth of roughly two inches and kept a clear ring around the base of each shrub to avoid moisture-related root issues.
We also installed a light weed barrier in the most problem-prone sections without affecting drainage. Bed edges were redefined to create a crisp visual line between lawn and mulch. As a final touch, we fluffed and leveled the surface for even coverage across the entire space.
